When you use FCoE adapter for example CN4054R, it has 4 ports, which are located on 2 ASICs. Each ASIC needs to be activated if you want to use FC protocol.
First reduce the number of ports virtual (vNIC) on each physical port (default is 8 vNIC per physical port, then on 4 ports adapter you will have 16 vNIC, this is most time not needed). Then collect the FoD ASIC ID (32 character) for each ASIC, the blade server serial number and type, to be able to generate the IBM key on http://www.ibm.com/systems/x/fod/
–> System Settings
–> Network
In the Network Device List : each port x:x:0 is an ASIC (2 per FCoE adapter for CN4054)
select one
–> Emulex 10G NIC
Set Advaced Mode to Disable, and Multichannel Mode to Disable
–> Feature On Demand
take the FUI To ask IBM a new key activation
Do it for ALL ASIC
Then save and exit the BIOS
restart (maybe seval times ?)
http://www.ibm.com/systems/x/fod/ –> Request Activation Keys
Register the IBM keys to IMM web interface on each node
–> IMM Management
–> Activation Keys Management
